Istanbul or Istanbul (Turkish İstanbul) is the largest city and metropolitan area of Turkey and the prefecture of the same name province, which occupies about 50% of the area but more than 98% of the population. It is listed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO in 1985, Istanbul is the main commercial and industrial financial center of Turkey, but also the cultural capital of the country. The population of the entire metropolitan Istanbul is estimated at 14 million in 2013 [3] making it the second most populous in Europe (after Moscow) city and one of the largest megacities in the world.
