Los Angeles is the second largest city in the United States after New York. It is located in the southern state of California, on the Pacific coast. Americans often call it by its nickname, LA, pronounced [ˌɛleɪ]. This city is the county seat of the same name. Los Angeles means "the angels" in Spanish and its inhabitants are called Angelenos (sometimes Angelinos) - the Angelins. His full name is El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de Los Ángeles del Río de Porciúncula, that is to say, "The Village of Our Lady the Queen of Angels of the river Porciuncula", the name given to the river by Indians
